Its very likely that the largest and fastest impact you can make on an Amazon account is by trying out some fresh product titles. If your products are considered apparel, jewelry or sporting goods, then you will mostly be changing parent titles where one title is attached to a whole set of product variations. Parent titles are nice like that because you get alot of bang for your buck.
In all other product categories, optimizing the Child ASIN titles will be the name of the game. Although these titles require a bit more work, since they only need to describe the variant they are assigned to, they can carry all kinds of variation specific keywords.
To get started, produce 8 potential product titles for your product. Put these plus the original title into Amazon's "Manage your Experiments" section to split test the different titles. Once enough time has passed to select a winner title, implement that title as your default product title. In these kinds of controlled experiments, conversion rate will give us a very clear view of how this title serves its purpose to inform customers on key information points. Once the right combination of information points are hit to the custom in a digest-able way, conversion will be much higher. There is often a process of experimentation to find the optimal title and its very common for the reasons that a given title works to be unarticulated.
