Customizing your Brand's Content

Now let's take customizing your content to the next level! In this article, we will learn how creating a Custom Algorithm Brief (CAB) in AutoMato will help you to codify your brand's voice and allow you to use your own custom content strategies that you can finely tune to suit your brand's needs.

Create a Custom CAB

Navigate to: Settings (Lefthand side menu) → Brand → Content Algorithm Brief (CAB)

On this page, you will see a list of all of the Content Algorithm Briefs that you have created or that are currently available to you.

First Create a new CAB by clicking Create CAB button on the top righthand side.

File Name:

Write a simple, descriptive name for your CAB. This name will be displayed when you add new products so that you can apply this CAB to products that are added or regenerated on the Add/Refresh Product Page

AI Parameters

In this section, you can fine turn the tone, writing style and overall brand voice of your CAB. Think of it as your AI brand guidelines section where you set general rules on how content should be written.

Clicking on "Pre-defined Suggestions" will insert them into your "Brand Voice Instructions."

Bullet Point Configuration

Bullet Points Template

In this section, you can define the structure of your bullet points. This allows you set the approximate length for each bullet point, how many bullet points are generated and to specify where pieces of content at placed in each bullet point.

For example, if you want to ensure that your first bullet is around 150 characters long, includes a callout to the products' ingredients in the heading, and lists the ingredients in the bullet point content, you can insert the following:

These same techniques can be used to specify which bulletpoints call out features, benefits, dimensions, or any other important information that you want prominently displayed in your bulletpoints. Make sure that you are not too specific. Instead of using words like "XL size Callout", use more general language like "Size Callout" so that you CAB will be usable for many product in your catalog.

*Note: Adding modifications to individual bullets is optional and not making changes is completely valid and will use the standard bullet point structure.

Judges (Optional)

Judges are a powerful tool to ensure your content meets a certain standard that you specify. This is only necessary when you have a standard that you content must meet such as compliance requirements, legal agreements, trademarks etc. A judge will real all content that gets written, see if it passes your "judge" and then if the rating of the judge returned is lower than the "Threshold" you set, your content will be rewritten until the content passes the "Judges" requirements.
Your Judge's "Judge Requirements" should be written as a sentence that represents how you want you content written. So if you want your content to NOT contain any references to chocolate, you should write the "Judge Requirements" as "Content does NOT contain any references to chocolate."
To add a new judge, click on "Add New" button to add your first judge. You can add up to 5 judges but adding them is not mandatory.
*Note: Adding excessive or unnecessary judges can negatively affect the SEO and readability of your content.

Writing Instructions

Writing instructions function similarly to the "AI Parameters" section where you can set the tone, style guidelines etc. of the content except only the bullet points are affected.

Description Configuration

Description Template

Like the bullet point template, the description template allows you to specify that certain information is included in different paragraphs of the product description. Instead of specifying which bullet point, paragraphs are specified.

Judges (Optional)

Description judges function just like bullet point judges, the default setting is to reuse the same judges assigned to the bulletpoints, but if different judges are required for the description, simply uncheck "Same as Bullet Point judges" and add the judges that are needed for the description.

Writing Instructions

The Description Writing Instructions work in the same as the bullet point writing instructions except affecting the description.

Once all areas of the CAB file is filled out in the desired way, click "Create" at the bottom of the screen.

Using Your Content Algorithm - Add ASIN Screen

Once your CAB is saved, goto the "Add/Refresh ASIN" screen. You will see your CAB file name listed underneath the ASIN input field.

Using Your Content Algorithm - Bulk Import File

Sometimes, you need to upload more than 10 ASINs at a time and utilize the special features available from the spreadsheet Bulk Import feature. Using brand files this way is easy.

Go to the Content Algorithm Brief and click the "Copy" button on the desired CAB.

This will copy your CAB's unique ID to your clipboard.

Using a Bulk Import sample file, press Ctrl + V (Windows) or ⌘ + V (Mac) the unique ID into the "Content Algorithm Brief (ID) for Bullet Points and Description (Optional)" column of your bulk upload file. Match the ASIN rows of with the ID of the cab file you want to use for each ASIN.

Each ASIN will then be used to run its corresponding CAB ID.
